running log – beginning of week 3

Today marked the beginning of week three, and it was a bit miserable, but I finished my two-mile jog/run.

It is the end of November and I am ahead of schedule for Christmas present purchasing. This is a very great feeling. Knowing we will be gone a week, to go to Luke’s Basic Training graduation has helped keep me on task—and Lizzie finished shopping and wrapping gifts yesterday… that hasn’t hurt either.

This morning, even though I have been enjoying moments of reading/listening to The Thursday Murder Club this past week, the seriousness of what is happening in our country feels very heavy. I know we live in a country that has so many freedoms and has made much progress, but I feel we are at a tipping point in our search for utopian equality. Not a word I would have used a year ago. One small thing that shows how we want equality without the effort of equality is while Luke is at Basic Training, we see photos on the FB page of different events of the recruits. It is a bit ironic, all the guys have to shave their heads, but the girls can keep their longer hair as long as it is put up? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want the girls to have to cut their hair, but the idea is, we are equal with special permissions… hum…

I also know I am a middle-aged white female, so I am sure some of my opinion is discredited because of that fact.

Okay, time to move on to the remainder of my coffee and the rest of my Saturday.
